tecumseh carb

Working on a Craftsman mower w/Tecumseh. I found all the answers to my questions here (great site) except for one simple one. What is the correct posistion for the float bowl? I see the bottom is offset, but did not notice what position it was in before I took it off. Does it matter?

rlbing,
The flat side of the bowl goes under the hinged portion of the float.

Yes, the deeper portion of the bowl goes under the end of the float that drops down.

Float Bowl Position

You'll also notice....the small dimple in the bottom of the
bowl on the deeper side....this is there so only this very
small area of contact touches the float which prevents
the float from possibly sticking to the bottom of the bowl
when gum/varnish residue is present in there when the
engines runs out of fuel. Make sense ??

You know, I always wondered why tecumseh floats weren't designed with a tab to prevent the float from dropping all the way to the bottom, but I never have seen it cause a problem. (thanks to that dimple), lol!
