toro mower
Hello Guys
I have a toro mower with a suzki engine that simply pumps oil out the breather tube into the airbox. The oil level is not overfull, it starts and runs like a top, it seems to have good compression, any ideas as to what could cause this
Thanks scotter

Check your breather to be sure it is cleaned out well and working properly. Make sure your air filter is not clogged or soaked with oil which will restrict airflow.

Hi Cheese
The air filter is fine, the breather seems to be internal as the line simply dissapears into the block so there is nothing to check , i have pulled the line from the airbox and within 10 min there was a puddle of oil the mower deck that circled the whole engine. I thought of bad rings but when line is off airbox it doesnt seem to smoke at all , what would a acceptable compression reading be taking into account the compression release system? thanks in asdvance

With compression release, you can't really get a real reading with a compression guage. The breather hose just connects to a hole in the block? No plate to remove, or anything like that? Does it connect to the valve cover?

Hi Cheese
I dug a little deeper the breather valve is under the flywheel , it has a reed valve design , it was full of oil ,I blew it all out cleaned it ,the valve looks ok, put it back together and still shoots out oil, do these things have a oil ring that could have failed ,when line is unplugged from airbox engine runs great no smoke at all , never skips a beat i guess ill pull head of next ,as i dont know what else to try

Does the engine have overhead valves? If so, it could well be a blown head gasket. Let us know what you find!
