2 cycle oil ratio

I just bought my first mower (used) and was curious as to what ratio of oil and gas to mix

It depends on the equipment and engine manufacturer. Some are 40:1, others different.

It should be printed on the engine decal, if not, call the engine manufacturer or equipment company and ask.

Most mowers do not have a oil/fuel ratio, but some do. Are you sure this is a 2-stroke engine? (I thought I'd ask since you stated that this is your first engine). Otherwise, the fuel cap will normally say the oil/fuel ratio, or the engine decal as Joe stated.
