I have aquired an older mastercraft tiller model number 60 40237
briggs and straton 5hp. I have searched the internet for anything on this. Can you tell me what year the motor is and who might of manufactured this tiller for mastercraft. Any imformation would be helpful in how to service and repair and fix non functioning reverse.:

If I remember right, mastercraft is made by MTD. MTD may be able to help you determine the age of the machine. The reverse problem is most likely a belt problem, either not engaging because of linkage problems (many tensioners are operated by a cable that rusts and fails), or because the belt is loose, out of adjustment, or off.
