flame from exhaust!

I was given a Craftsman riding mower with 12 hp Tecumseh OHV engine. The woman who gave it to me said that her husband refused to use it because it set the grass on fire. After cleaning the carb, it starts right up and seems to run fine, but it has a blue flame coming out the exhaust, which points directly down. The muffler looks new. I adjusted the valves (they were pretty close already). Maybe something with the compression release? It looks kinda cool at night, but isn't really very safe the way it is. Any ideas? Thanks-

flywheel key

Sure enough! Flywheel key was sheared. Thanks for the quick, accurate reply. Anything else I should look for while I'm at it?
Thanks again, Steve

Sounds like you got a nice mower at the right price.
