Engine Ignition Problem

tecimseh engine/no spark

i have a sears mower 143.974008 with now spark
i have replaced the coil poart #34443a still no spark
this engine has no points
and i cant see anyother thing that controls the spark excepy the grounding bar whicks works ok
need help on what to look for

Hello mareaker!

Remove the wire (probably green) from the coil and check for spark. If you still have none, the coil is bad(not real likely, but possible). If you do have spark, then the blade brake/kill switch control is making contact. This could be due to a bad blade brake cable.
