can't loosen oil drain plug

I can't loosen the drain plug on my gas edger or my craftsman rider. Any ideas on how to loosen either of these?

Thanks.

Try loosening them after the engine is good and hot.

What are you using to take it off? A 1/2 drive rachet with the right socket or a breaker bar and the right socket would work well.

Helo Joan!

I agree, there's not much trick to it other than turn harder, lol. Warming it up might help, but don't take the plug all the way out with it hot, just loosen it, then let it cool down so that the hot oil doesn't burn you. I hate to ask this, but you are turning it counter-clockwise, right?

If the plugs are the square type (3/8 or 7/16) a sqaure drive socket works well. If all else fails just pop/shock it with a hammer and it'll come right out....Mike
