Question Resources for Spark Plug gap settings?

I had a previous post on trouble starting a Homelite grass trimmer. After narrowing the gap setting on the Spark Plug, and removing the spark plug to clear a flooded cylinder. It finally kicked over.

Does anyone know of a decent resource to find the spark plug gap settings for certain engines, etc?

I'm from an engineering background and so like things stated pretty exacting. When I called around in the past to a small engine repair site the service manager told me to set the gap the thickness of a match book flap. Turns out that's about 0.015" worked like a charm, no replacing experience I guess -

If you call up Champion Spark plug 1-800-207-3877, they can advise you of the plug part # and the gap for a given application.

I have one of their catalogs, and they list the part # of the plug and the gap right alongside of it .
