Snow thrower governor linkage position
I am presently servicing my snowthrower. I removed the carb to clean it without paying close attention to the position of holes where the linkage goes, now I am not sure I replaced the linkage in the correct position. When the engine is running there is a constant "surging" by the governor and engine. This happens with both the cleaned-up old carb and a brand new one installed, so I suspect the governor to be the problem. I am looking for a photo or diagram or description of the correct governor link position for my Sears Craftsman snowthrower (model # 536.886121) with a 5HP Tecumseh Snow King engine.

You should be able to see a little wear on one of the holes. If you tried every hole and the problem still exists, then try backing the adjusting screw (the little screw on the side or bottom of the carburetor) out a little until the engine smooths out.

Thanks. I will do as you suggest and look for wear. BTW, unlike the old carb, the new one has no idle or high speed adjustments.
