grass trimmer

hello,
i have a old black and decker electric bump feed grass trimmer that i have lost the manual for. contacted b&d and they said bring it to a repair shop. the problem is i don't remember what size line it is supposed to take.
its a model #82212, 12 ',bump and feed.. its about 10 years old.
also,is there a trick to having the line feed when i bump the thing on the ground? i remember to take the cap and spool out to manuall feed the the string. quite a pain in the neck.
any help would be appreciated.
thanks,
daswede

Hello daswede!

Are you sure you are winding the line the correct direction around the spool? The spool should have an arrow marking the direction to wind it. If it is correct, and still not feeding when you bump it, then the mechanism in the bump head may need cleaning or is worn out.

hello my friend cheese,
ya, that was one of the first things i checked. appears, when i "moc'ed" the line that is on it now was .080". i really think
the line is too thick.
i cleaned the spool and head real good. checked for nicks and such, but couldn't find anything suspisous but the line diameter.

Yep, I'm pretty sure .080" line is too large for any electric trimmer. That is probably the problem. I don't know what size yours takes, but something about half that size should do well.

You got the wrong person at B&D. I e-mail them for owner's manuals all the time.

The only way they say "no" is if they physically don't have it anymore. Otherwise they will gladly mail a copy.

E-mail them on their website www.blackanddecker.com

I just got an owner's manual for a "recycled" find I got last week.
