Craftsman engine rotation

Hi. I'm having a problem w/ a 6.75 hp Craftsman mower. I am trying to turn the engine by hand, but i am unsure which direction it rotates in. Looking down at the engine from the top, does it rotate clockwise or counterclockwise? Thanks.

btw: I'm pretty sure the engine was made by Tecumseh, b/c it has an indian head on it.

If the discharge chute is on the right looking down, them the motor would rotate clockwise looking down.

OK, thanks. The engine appears to have seized up. You can't even budge it w/ the pull start, and you can barely move it by hand. It is self-propelled, and I have disconnected the clutch for the pulley system, any suggestions on what the problem might be? Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Hello nismo!

Check the blade brake to make sure it is not engaged. Sounds to me like it is engaged, keeping the engine from turning. It is connected to the cable that goes to the safety bar on the handle. The brake assembly is under the flywheel.
