Tractor oil

I have a Kubota B2410 lawn tractor. It has a diesel engine and I was wondering if it's okay to run regular or heavy duty 10w-30 motor oil in it since the Kubota oil is a 30 weight oil. I just want to know if I have to keep running to the Kubota dealer every time I want to change the oil.

Thanks for your help.

Hello jburd!

You definitely don't have to use the oil at the dealer. Any API certified oil that matches the requirements in the manual will do fine. I would reccomend staying with the straight 30 instead of switching to 10w30, unless the manual states that this weight oil is acceptable, and then I would only use it if you are operating in temps below 40 degrees and are having a hard-to-start symptom.
