Lawn Mower Leaking Gas

Lawn Mower Leaking Gas
In June I purchased a used Lawn-Boy Silverpro Model # 10324 lawn mower (2-3 yrs old), with a Duraforce 6.5 hp 2 cycle self-propelled engine.
The last few times I have used the mower I have noticed that it has been leaking a dark brown fluid from the under side of the muffler assembly. This leaking does not happen while the engine is running but usually the day after I have used the mower.
Now the last time I used the mower, besides this brown fluid, I also noticed the smell of raw gasoline the next day. After inspection I found that the air filter, located on the back of the engine, was soaked in gas. I tilted the mower onto its back wheels and gas came running out of the air intake. I believe this intake goes into the carberator.
I cleaned everything up and inspected all hoses and connections and all appear to be in good condition. I did notice more gas leaking out today.
Any thoughts or ideas on both problems would be greatly appreciated.

Hello tbone946!
Sounds like you need to clean the carb at the least, rebuild it at the most. Remove the carb bowl and clean it out and clean the needle and seat well. If it continues to leak, you may need to replace the needle. Let us know how it goes!
