Honda Intake Valve

I am working on a 5.5Hp OHV honda lawn mower model GCV160,the problem is the intake valve keeps sticking open . I have completly torn the engine apart and cleaned the valve, guide and intake port.My neibor used it two times after I did that then the valve was froze open the next time she went to use it. Is this a common problem for honda engines, has anyone seen this before?.I am used to working on Briggs engines and have never had one of them do this before.Any information would greatly be appriciated.

Thanks

Thomas Ross

Hello Thomas!

I haven't had much problem with honda engines having stuck valves. My guess would be that it has either a slightly bent valve, an oiling problem, carbon buildup (which is probably not the case since you cleaned it), or a distorted guide. My bet would be on the valve being bent. An automotive machine shop should be able to check it for you. Let us know what you find!
