Honda hr 214 mower
Gas coming from carb next to intake manifold. Checked rubber o ring in bowl. Float seems ok. Gaskets are good. Engine runs but still have gas leaking from fuel bowl. Thank you in advance to any and all respondors

you may have a missing oring with that spring on the screw. Either that or you have a missin or wrongly seated needle valve. Although you could also use a carb rebuild kit for 10.00 at your local repair shop.

THANK YOU FOR YOUR REPLY I will go to a honda dealer and get a rebuild kit for the carb. THANK YOU FOR YOU KINDNESS, It has to be the needle valve or the seat, I have checked everything else.

Hello JR!
Honda needles seldom ever need replacing. You probably just need to clean the carb well. For some reason, the needle is not sealing either because of a bad float, stuck float, trash and gum buildup in the seat area, or unlikely but possibly the needle itself.

Honda carb rebuild
Looking at the carb with the bowl off and the float removed, the seat is plastic and it is pressed in very firmly into the carb body.
How in the world do you get this seat out of the inlet body ?
I have a old carb from a deceased honda mower. Tried to get the seat out but only to mutilate it. Most of it remains solidly in the insert housing. Hep me Hep me
Thanks for this site and hats off to the moderators

I merged this thread with your previous one...this keeps things in order so that we can all follow whats going on a lot better. Use the reply button instead of asking a new question to keep the topic together. Thanks!
I never have removed a honda seat...never had one go bad. I really think you are putting the blame on the wrong part. I don't think the seat is removable. Have you tried cleaning it well?

I understood it to be that he/she has an old carb off of another engine...and was removing the seat to install it in the current carb with the problems.
If the original carb is still intact, it should be easy enough to repair.

Thanks for the response.
I have pretty much mutilated the seat in the old carb. The only way I can see to clean out the old seat is to carefully drill it out.
Sounds drastic but ??
The mower is running but gas leaking from the bowl at the top persists. Float looks good, Needle valve taken out and examined, seat looks good. It appears that the needle valve is not interupting the gas flow, therefore the leaking. The large "O"
ring at the top of the bowl looks good. The folat needle valve should shut the flow off, correct? Dont know where to go except a new carb. Any technical advice is appreciated.
I bought anew Hr 217 Honda mower but I dont like giving up on the old one. Just perplexing.
Thanks to all

I agree sence you mutiliated the seat you might as well buy a new carb. If you want to get a carb for cheap price you could look for it on ebay. But remember when you are getting a new carb it has to be for your exact modle otherwise you could get the wrong one. If you do not care about cost you may go to Honda's website and see if the have a parts listing for you modle.

Try different things like carburetor, honda carburetor, honda carb, etc... Each search may result in different things. Also try mikuni carb, Mikuni honda carburetor, etc...
