Tecumseh carburetor
Today I was working on a tecumseh pushmower engine and the carburetor was filthy, so after I got it cleaned up pretty well, when I went to reassemble it, I noticed the the float was sticking up higher than it should be. I do remember reading somewhere that tecumseh floats shouldn't be level, but this float was way above level. The needle did seat down into the seat I believe all the way. Any thoughts? What is the propper setting for the float and what is the correct way to set a carburetor float. All I know is that you use a drill bit which I believe is 11/64 for briggs. Thanks for the help!!!!!

Hello Mower17!
To set the float level, bend the tab that the needle clips to. I haven't had any trouble setting floats on small engines visually. You can get specific with measurements and drill bit sizes, but most all floats should be level with the carb housing when you hold it upside-down. The tecumseh float should be just a tad high on the end opposite of the hinge when holding it upside-down. A #4 drill is normally use for most tecumseh carbs.
