Could you please elaborate whether it is a 2 or 4 cycle motor that we are dealing with and possibly make of engine, model or horse power.
You definately sound like you have a carburetion problem since when you push the primer it stays running. On the 4 cycle motor, there should be a high speed adjusting screw located on the bottom of the float bowl and if you turn it 1/4 turn counter clockwise that will richen the fuel mixture and possibly allow your engine to keep running. Will it keep running if you keep the choke on fully or partially?.
Let me know.
