Whats the top RPM fpr a 8 HP Briggs engine?

I'm not sure if the application will dictate the top RPM but on a normal application such as snowblower, tiller etc I normally set it to 3600.

You can turn them a little faster than that if the machinery that's being run will tolerate it. I think that 3800 to 4000 would be about the limit. You aren't getting full power at those speeds though. Max HP would occur closer to 3500. If your load requires the speed you would be better to adjust it using different pulley sizes or different gears. Long term I wouldn't like any speed much over 3600. I know that the small 2 pole generators run at those speeds but that's about the max I would feel comfortable with if you are going to run the engine for hours at a time.
