Murray 3.5HP mower with non working throttle

I have a murray 3.5HP classic mower and the throttel will no control the speed of the engine and it runs very fast i looked at all the linkages on the throttle and they r connected but dose not seem to have any tension on it when i move the lever.

dose anyone know how to fix it or know how much it would cost to repair it i only paid 99.00 for it at walmart.

Jacob,Check your throttle cable itself.Is it broken??This is a very common problem with the plastic throttle cables that Murray uses.If not an you move the throttle on the carb. by hand,it mite be stuck.

Hello Jacob!

Along with what Repair Guy said, also check the air filter housing. A common problem is that the housing gets bent or smashed down far enough that it binds the throttle linkage in place. Try running it for a second or two without the filter housing on it to tell if this is the problem.
