JOHN DEERE 116H Transmission

Hello can anyone help me with a hydrostatic drive transmission on a 1985 116H. It has recently started leaking and I would like to know how hard it is to drop and replace the seals? Email me at [email protected] THANK YOU!!!!!

Generally, it is not all too difficult. That 's coming from someone who works on lawn mowers every day though. Check the "parts" section of Deere's Website first though to find out what is and isn't repairable/replaceable. http://jdpc.deere.com/jdpc/servlet/c...ageServlet_Alt
This will get you to parts look up. Check with a local Deere dealer for availability of needed parts. Removal of the tranny requires removing the wheels (for weight purposes), likely six mounting bolts, brake linkage, actuating linkage and the belt. Not a bad job to tackle.
