Poulan Pro - Model PPR17H42ST - engine dies when engaging mower
Interesting problem:
Riding mower runs great until I engage the mower. When starting to engage the mower then there is an electrical surge shown on the amperage guage and a fuse is blown. I can partly hold the mower engagment lever and the mower works ok, it seems to be when the engine is loaded that this problem occurs. Even if the fuse blows the engine will continue to run, that is if it didn't competely stop while engaging the mower.
So I believe it has to do with the electrical, but not sure where to start.
Any ideas.
Thanks,
DR

Hello DR!
Look under the dash at the area where the engagement lever is. My bet is that a wire is shorting against the lever or linkage somewhere. If you don't see anything rubbing there, look under the mower at the parts that move when you engage it. Look for wires chaffing against metal.
