Walbro Lmb 128 series on an old generator

I bought an old Sears 900 watt generator at a garage sale for 5 bucks. It was covered with rust and an 1/8 inch of grime. I dipped the carburetor and cleaned the motor which has a serial number on a aluminum plate mod 500 0300 047 ser 401048. It started on the second pull. The problem-- it won't run without the choke. I'm using a 40 to 1 mix. Not sure if this is a Tecumseh engine or not. Its generating power, so that is good. Could use any advice on the carburetor and fuel mix.

Hello Dan!

I don't know what engine this has...if you could provide us that detail we could help a little better. Can you find a manufacturer ID? I'm not familiar with that # you posted. Are there any letters before the #s? Is it a 2cycle engine? If not, then you don't mix any oil with the gas. If so, then not mixing it will ruin it. Sounds like, in either case, you need to clean the carb.
