john deere 170 mower deck

The bracket for the idler spring on my 38'' deck rotted out and the spring disconnected at both ends. I have a new bracket. how does it line up on top of the pulley and where do I connect the other end of the spring that comes out of the bracket. How do I line all this up? George

Hello GDon!

Have you tried the JD website? Also, your Deere dealer should be able to show you a picture right there on the parts lookup screen when you go in to get parts. It should show how the spring connects. I can't tell you off the top of my head how it goes on there. Seems like there is a hook welded to the deck, and a notch on the tensioner arm that the spring connects to.
