Lawn Mower sputtering

I have a lawn mower in which I keep up on maintaince, now for some reason when Im using it, it sputters when it's running. Put new plug, filter, but since the gas prices went up i use to put in premium gas to keep everything running smooth. But now using keeper gas. Any ideas what is going on? It's a Craftsman (briggs stratton motor) 5.5hp.

Fuel octane will have very little effect on your engine. It certainly won't create the problem your encountering alone. Sputtering usually indicates a rich condition at the carburetor (provided you're describing it correctly). If it's more like a hunt (serging) then it will be a lean condition, which is more likely the case. If so, then cleaning the main jets' holes out with fine wire will likely solve the problem.
