troy-bilt string trimmer/mower

i've got one of these puppies - the ones with the two big wheels and the extra heavy duty plastic "string" - problem is keeping the "string" intact - never lasts more than five minutes - been using the "new & improved" string the dealer is pushing and installing exactly as the manual directs - no help - what is the feeling about substituting a piece of light cable in place of the worthless plastic string?

Hello Moosetoo!

Wow, I think I'd be leery of using cable. It might work, but if it comes out...who might it hit? You? A bystander? Also, if you got into some electrical wires somewhere with that thing, you'd be risking shock hazards. The cable will also damage things that the regular line won't, like trees, siding, etc...
