Grass discharge chute

Could someone explain an easy way to put the return spring on the grass discharge chute on a model - 917.257470 craftsman rider. The sears website doesn't really show much. It's looking like it will just take brute force.

Cheese,
I finally figured out a way that worked for me. I un-bolted the bracket from the deck. I laid the chute up-side down on my workbench and held it down with a large C-clamp. Then with the help of a pair of vice-grips and another pair of hands, I finally assemblied the chute, spring and mounting bracket. Once assemblied, I then transfered the assembly to the deck and bolted it back in place. Whew, I hope now the next one wont be as bad. All these small things can be quite aggravating!

I've done many of the same procedures you have done and they don't get any easier with each passing one...sorry to say. Glad you got it though.
