Question Craftsman mower - fuel in air filter

I have an old Craftsman mower with an Eager-1 engine. When I use the mower, it runs OK (a little rough). But when I turn the mower off, I get fuel leaking into the air filter. The next time I try to run the mower I have to remove the air filter and let it dry out before starting it again.

Can anyone help?

Hello kayakerjess!

You need to remove the carburetor bowl and clean it out, remove the float, and shake it. Do you hear gas sloshing around inside it? If so, replace it. If not, it should be ok. If you found water and trash in the bowl, try putting it back together and using it a little. If it still leaks, you'll need to remove the carb and replace the seat.
