MTD Shift-on-the-Go Problem

Hubby has an MTD riding mower he bought before Montgomery Ward went out of business. Has had it about 6 years, now, I think. Anyway, he is having a problem with the "shift-on-the-go" feature. He says he also needs a repair manual for the Drive Line and Belts, and the Clutch. Can anyone point me in the right direction?

You will need the model# and Serial # which (hopefully still in tact) should be located on a decal under the seat.

The above link will lead you to manuals, as for the shift problem, if you can post back with the #'s and a bit more description on what type of problem and also what type of drive the mower has, IE: Hydrostatic, gear drive..? (does it have a seperate lever to shift into reverse?)
