Craftsman 18HP Kohler Auto Slips on Hill

This mower runs great but when going up a hill it just bogs down. I was once able to get up the same hill with no problem. Is there a way to tighten the drive belt to get more power to the drive?

Not sure exactly what mower you have, but probably not. Have you replaced the belt? That will probably take care of the problem.

Your belt is probably glazed and not providing the friction you need. A new belt will probably fix you right up. I don't recommend buying aftermarket (auto supply) belts because they just don't seem to work as well in my experience.

You might try some belt dressing as a short term fix, but as stated in the other threads, a new belt is on order.

Where does your trouble stand ru2chim? Have you looked at the belt close enough to determine if it is a belt issue or a tranny issue? Let us know.
