Gas leak in lawn mower (not from carb)
#1

A friend gave me his lawn mower, which has not been used for a couple of years. I filled gas and it dripped out till the tank was empty.
I filled alittle again to check where it dripped from; it was not from the carb but somewhere else.
Any suggestions? Could it still be the carb that needs cleaning?
I am new at lawn mowers but understand teo stroke engines as they are similar to the old bikes with carbs that I have fixed.

A more specific diagnosis will be needed on your part in order for us to help you out better. What brand engine? What are the ID #'s of such? Where, if not at the carb, do you suspect the fuel is leaking? Is the fuel making it's way into the cranckcase (oil)?

Mower
The mower is a Snapper mower; I understand it is professional grade.
The gas did not dry; instead I had to keep a pan below the unit to collect the same.
It seems to drip from a unit next to the carb. A friend suggested that it may be the carb that needs cleaning.
Any suggestions welcome!
Thanks again

A cleaning and a kit most likely. Your needle and seat are not shutting off fuel into the carb, the fuel overflows until it finds a lowspot to make its way to the ground.
Your oil sump is also below the level of the overflowing fuel. Make sure to check your oil for smell of gas and then CHANGE it
Just as your local dealer will need, if you can post the model# of your mower I am sure Puey can get you part#'s specific
