Blade brake

I've just got a self propelled walk behind John Deere (JX75) with a Kawasaki engine which has a blade brake underneath. The special bolt holding the blade, spring and the lower disc to the crankshaft is broken off. My question is, how do you dissassemble the upper part of the brake (the part that's still on the engine)? I can't quite get to the part that's left in the crankshaft...with a pair of vise grips. Also, I replaced the same bolt approximately one year ago...there is no sign that the blade hit something. Dose anyone have any ideas?

Hello Jack B.!

Unfortunately, I can't remember how that thing is assembled, don't have any books on it, and don't have one here at the shop to look at. Hopefully someone will be able to help!
