B&S fuel problem

My lawnmower won't stay running. I prime 3-4 times, and it runs until the primed fuel is gone. I tried to clean out what I believe to be the main jet, although it is not very accessable, with no luck. I have a MTD 11A 020B000. The motor is a 3.5HP Briggs & Stratton, and the only number I see is on the recoil; it is D05428CN. I think it is also worth noting that the carb. It is all plastic, the throttle is controlled by the engine (cooling fins fan a flap) and it does not appear to have any adjustments. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hello deoz!

You need to replace the carburetor diaphragm. Less than $5.00 at any small engine shop. It is between the carb and the gas tank.

still broken

First I want to thank you for your help. Unfortunately, the mower still doesn't run. It dies after the prime fuel runs out. Could it be the apparatus on the crankcase that directs crankcase pressure to the carb? I am totally lost. I've no experience with diaphragm carbs. Thank You in advance for any help you can offer.

Wow, probably 95% of the time, if not better, the diaphragm fixes that problem. Did you look at the pickup screens on the underside of the carb when you had it apart? Could there be water in the tank (a little)?
