Homelite weedwacker starts and runs well but the head wont spin

I have a Homelite st-175 weedwacker..I bought and installed a heavy duty brushcutter head for the unit..everything went well for about an hour..then I took a break got some water and when i went to turn the unit on it was struggling to spin and start..once I did get it started everything was fine but the head was not spinning..I started to take the unit apart..I see there is a long cable in the shaft..I cant get the nut(?)off of the head end to see what's in that shaft end..can I fix this unit myself..where do I go from here?

Hello Bales!

Does it look like the boom might have slipped away from the engine a little (enough that the cable might not be engaged with the clutch anymore)? Does it have a gearbox on the end of the shaft? If so, it could well be stripped. Those blades are rough on string trimmers.
