Honda 3813 Clutch/Brake Problem

It is very difficult to shift my Honda 3813 from gear to gear. The brake also doesn't fully engage. I know the clutch/brake are connected somehow. I can change gears but have to jam the shifter from gear to gear...it can't be good on the mower.

Any advise?

Cheese- you recommended adjusting the clutch tensioner or something like that awhile back. I just got my mower back after being in the shop for a while to get the coil replaced. I forgot exactly what you advised me to do.

Please help. Thanks.

John
