Unhappy Honda Self Propelled mower doesn't propell

I was just given a Honda HR214 that starts easily but doesn't propell.

When I engage the Drive Cluth Lever, it appears that the cable slacks up a bit (under the control lever pivot points). There's a little nub on the tranny where the cable ends... I moved the cable to let the nub extend a bit, but it still doesn't propell. What might I try?

Hello Jerry!

Does the cable actually move at the other end when you engage it? If not, you just have a stuck cable. If so, try moving the lever that the cable actuates farther (manually) and see if it goes into gear. If not, you may have a bad tranny.
