Starter rope yanks back?

I have a 4.5 hp Briggs & Stratton.

I replaced the mower blade and know when I pull the starter rope the rope pulls viantly back out of my hand. The engine tries to fire but doesn't start. Can anyone tell me what is going on. Does it have anything to do with the new blade installation or is that a coincidence? Any help would be much appreciated!

it sounds as if your flywheel key is sheared. causing the spark timing to
be advanced thus causing your problem. a flywheel key should cost about $1.00.

A loose blade will also do this. Make sure it is tight. The flywheel key doesn't usually shear unless something is hit with the mower, like a brick or root, etc... Is that why you had to change the blade?
