Sticky valves

I have backfiring on a 8 HP Tecumseh Snow King. Pretty sure
its a sticky valve. Any tips on tackling this problem?

You should be able to verify valve operation by removing the cylinder head and rotating the engine. Backfiring is also commonly caused by a carburetor problem.

You might try Marvel Mystery oil. I have had good luck freeing sticky valves with it. Put it directly on the valve stems if you can get to them and let it soak overnight. Otherwise, add it to the oil & or gas.
