surging honda

surging honda

i have a pressure washer with a honda gc160 engine. the problem is
it surges at idle, but works great at w.o.t. i cleaned the carb but found no trash. what could be the problem?

Most honda pw's I've seen surge like that. The only way to eliminate it is to richen the fuel mixture, and newer models have limiter caps on the mixture screws. These caps, when tampered with, will pop off...along with the entire head of the screw. (it's desinged that way). Then no adjustments can be made until you manage to get the remainder of the screw out and replace it.

Unless your able to wiggle the broken jet out, slot the end, and loctite the threads once adjusted to suit

this engine used to idle very smoothly til the last big project. i tried to remove the limiter cap to no avail. the screw was turned completely open.
