4HP Tecumseh carb adj. problem

Roto Tiller: Troy Bilt Junior 4HP with
Tecumseh HS40 55580M[C] 4046B motor

I took the carb off, cleaned and put back on. Now the engine runs but RPM oscillates.

Hello Hewski!

Unfortunately, there aren't many definite answers to your questions. Most of the places you have marked are adjustments that vary from engine to engine. You have done a fantastic job of presenting your question with the photos.

#1- The plain or pink...probably pink.

#2- Pink

#3- Depends...it is an adjustment

#4- Depends...it is an adjustment

$5- Do not move this. It is factory set and should never need to be moved again. If you have already moved it, the procedure for readjustment and the other adjustments are described in http://www.cpdonline.com/692509.pdf

If you look closely in the holes, you should be able to see the inside surface of each hole, and the linkage should connect in the hole with the wear marks.

Go to this site http://www.cpdonline.com/692509.pdf and once there, scroll down to the section on governors and linkages. It's very informative and it also has pictures of linkages on various Tecumseh motors that you can use for reference. Plus it shows you how to adjust the governor linkage (that would be #5 in your pictures)
By the way...your pictures and descriptions are awesome. But next time,take some before pics too.
