snow thrower

can any body help me. was using my 8 horse snow thrower and it stopped running for no reason. has plenty of power doesnt use oil, but cant start it. can turn shaft on motor back wards and pull starter cable a little ways but then stops abupt. its a 8 horse tecumseh snow thrower motor with electic start. thank you

From what you describe I think you have a broken rod.

From what the other poster said, i believe that is the situation. Remove the electric starter from the engine and see if there are big cracks or a hole in the block.
Was the oil low or old? This is a main culprit in popping a rod.

broken rod

two causes mostly:

a) governor stuck and engine reved to high.

B) Very cold when started and did not give sufficient time for warm up, thus, starving engine of lubrication;rod seizes to crank and breaks
