MTD Snow thrower problem

My MTD 3 HP Single Stage snow thrower develops a couple of problems this year and I hope that someone can help me fix them.

1) I can't stop the engine. it won't turn off through the ignition switch. had to wait until it runs out of gas

2) It won't throw snow. The blade spins but the snow accumulate at the mouth of of the auger

thanks in advance for the advise

if you slow the engine down to its lowest throttle position and then set the choke to the full "on" position, the engine should stop.

Switch problem

Your ignition switch is not grounding. You can kill it the way scan says, but I wouldn't keep doing it as it could foul the plug.
It sounds like the auger has some severe damage. Check the "flippers" in the center of auger. That is the only thing I can think of to keep a single stage from thowing snow. Also make sure engine is running at full speed.
Good luck,
Mike A
