Ariens Sno Throw

I have a 73 Ariens Sno throw. I just rebuilt the carb and it starts great, but it bogs a bit under load. I adjusted the carb screws, but I can't adjust the motor speed. It goes from high to off, no in between. I never touched the governor, so I haven't bothered to adjust it when I finished. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Hello!

It sounds to me like the throttle shaft in the carb is stuck. It should move freely open and closed. Varnish may have made it stick in one position. Check and let us know what you find!

Hey doc, have you checked out the possible varnished/"frozen" throttle shaft yet, as cheese suggested? In doing your rebuild, did you soak the carb in a bath type cleaner? Or just use a automotive spray cleaner? Spray cleaners usually will not cut through any heavy varnish. If the throttle shaft checks out OK, you may have a governor issue. Let us know.
