Yard Machine Cutting Deck Does not Fully Raise or Dis-engage
Dear Tech Support,
I have a 38 inch Yard Machine with a 14HP Briggs engine (Model: OHV 287707, Type 022401, Code: 970325ZE). When I raise the lever that adjust the cutting height of the deck, the deck does not fully raise or kick forward enough to where the brake stops the cutting blade pulley on the top side of the pulley. Also the limit switch does not become actuated to enable starting. When the switch is defeated & the engine starts, the blades partly turns. Also, it doesn't appear that the deck is fully kicking forward to relieve complete tension from the cutting belt. I see where the height of the deck can be adjusted on the right side (while sitting on the mower) but the left side is not adjustable.
I don't see any springs loose.
1) What other thing can I examine?
2) What are all the common issues that can cause this problem?
3) How can I repair it?
Please Advise,
Terry

Hello Terry,
Remove the shifter knob and remove the plate that covers the section between the seat and dash. Look on the sides of the frame at the linkage bars that lift and control the deck. One of them has probably come off.

Not to be redundant, or that I don't believe you, but I just want to make sure we're talking about the same linkages. I know you checked the ones that attatch to the deck, but there are actually several linkages on the sides of the inside of the mower frame only visible by removing the palte I mentioned. Usually your problem is caused by one or more of these binding or off. Just trying to make sure you've looked at all these too. There are quite a few. Usually one that is partially hidden under the dash area comes off.
