Fuel shut off valve leaking

I have a B&S mower, model #124702, and it has a fuel cut-off (part number 494235) that is leaking. I can't figure out why, It has a little lever-like tab on the back of it in addition to the actual shut off valve. It is leaking thru this tab. Any help would be appreciated!

Is this just a black plastic valve with a red tab that you turn to shut the fuel off? I didn't find a current listing for the part # you showed. I might have to look up the actual engine to see what you have.

Bodeen, this is a tank that is under a government recall dating back several years. I'm surprised that the leakage has taken so long to show up. Remove the tank, take this along with your engines' model, type and code numbers to an authorized Briggs dealer and they'll set you up with a free replacement. Mention that this is covered under Briggs Service Bulletin # 593.
