Gas blowing out of carb

I have a Homelite XL 98 multipurpose saw with a Tillotson HS carburetor. The high speed jet is fixed. There is only an idle mixture adjustment screw on it. I recently put a new carb kit in it and when it runs, fuel comes out of the back of the carburetor, where choke valve is, and some unburned fuel comes out of muffler. The muffler and spark arrestor are clean. I set the lever that is connected to the needle valve and metering diaphragm the way the book says, but it still happens. Any suggestions?

Hi Slim!

I'm not very familiar with that carb. Make sure the diaphragm isn't in backwards. Maybe someone can add some more detailed or specific info.

Just to be sure you have it right...carb, gasket, diaphragm, cover. In that order on the fuel pump side.
