Carburetor pickup tube?

Hello, I was cleaning the exterior of a Craftsman/MTD push Mower M/N 917.387610 and I inadvertantly knocked what I think is a pickup or primer tube loose from the carb. It is a small red semi-flexible plastic tube approx. 3-4 inches long and was wondering if someone could tell me where and how it is to be reattached? It sticks out of the carb intake approx. 1 inch and is normally not visible as it is coverd by the filter assembly. Any help would be much appreciated thank you in advance.

Thumbs up Carburetor pickup tube

inside the carb.,just behind the airfilter,on top you'll see a little hole. That is where the red tube goes. The other end doesn't hook to anything. It just sticks into the airfilter, but make the tube is sticking into the hole in the carb.really good (as far as it will go).

Yep, just inside the carb throat, but I think it's actually on the bottom. It's not an MTD though. The 917 prefix on the model # tells us that it's made by American Yard Products.
