murray 16 hp autodrive not engaging

hello! can someone please tell me why my murray rider will not disengage from freewheel mode. It is a 16hp murray hydrostatic auto drive, model 402707. It ran fine last fall. when I parked it for the winter it was in drive mode. this spring I took it out, and it was in freewheel mode. I jiggled the switch and checked belts and connecters, but it wont drive. It starts right up, and the mower works fine. Short of tearing apart the transaxle does anyone know if i missed something simple? i.e. safty switches ect.

The lever to disengage is not the actual switch that controls the fluid flow. The switch is on the transaxle and they do get stuck. (Usually a spring loaded button)Drowning it in WD 40 will sometimes free it up. Hope thats the cure for you--just a guess.
