chainsaw tension spring

I have a Green Machine Model #7200 chainsaw. When trying to start the saw the rope pulled out. I had to take the saw apart to repair the rope. Unfortuneatly when I took out the screw the tension spring popped out. Can anyone tell me how to get it back in? I have tried numerous times but the spring uncoils before I can get it back in place and the screw tightened. Surely there is a trick that I am missing.

Thanks,
Alaska

Hello Alaska!

The only way I know of is to wind it up and put it back in the housing. It should stay there wound up so that you can then insert the spool and wind it up further.
