Question Briggs Rototiller ignition coil

I have a 3HP codes 81202 and 6307223

I can't get a spark and I tested the resistance of the coil from the ground to the spark plug lead out of the coil, and I get 2.5K ohms? Shouldn't I be getting something in megaohms? I think the coil might be bad? The armature gap is .010, and the kill wire is now insulated. Also is there a solid state replacement?

This is a very old engine, I don't think there are any points or a condensor.

The solid state replacement coil is part # 496914 (Briggs). Briggs supplies no resistance figures for good/no good purposes, they have a special (small engine type) tester to determine if a coil is pass or fail. I'd install a new solid state coil and be done with it.

Does anyone have a good coil they could test? Also where do I get this specialty meter? If it does induction testing is that good enough? are you sure the solid state replacement will work for this motor?
