Murry rear engine transmission stuck

I just got this older murry rear engine mower.

It would roll freely when I picked it up but now I can't get the tansmission to neutral. With lots of effort I can push it forward but not backwards.

I push in the clutch and all of the linkages seem to work properly. The F/R/N lever seems to work. Blade engage works.

Is the transmission stuck or is the clutch frozen?

Thanks

Ray

I believe your brake is stuck. Some of these had a tranny up under the seat with a chain going to the rear axle. If it's like this, the brake is on the side of the tranny under the seat. If this has a regular transaxle, then the brake is on the side of the tranny under the mower frame.

Thanks for the reply. No chain on this model. The brake/clutch linkages go straight to a lever on the transmission.
